About

Biography

Initiative, curious and persistent Vasiliki Dermitzi does not consider journalism as a conventional profession, but mainly as a path to investigate, reveal and restore the truth.

Vasiliki lives in London and is currently a postgraduate student in Journalism, Media and Arts Department, Westminster University.

She has followed the print strand and focused on writing news stories, interviews, features, profiles and reviews for newspapers and magazines.

Along with traditional journalism, Vasiliki is passionate with online journalism. She prefers to think that new media assists journalism to enter the new communication era.

As an MA student, she was the Feature Editor for the “Nurture” magazine and the sub-editor for The Impressionist website, where she also published her articles.

She has experience in radio broadcasting. Vasiliki is intrigued with the process of reporting for the radio and is fascinated with the direct contact with the listeners.

In 2009 her photos from the G20 protests in London inspired the visual artist Christofer Fraser and were exhibited in Shunt Gallery, London Bridge. Also, the web map SCHMAP chose the image for the Trafalgar square from her selection of images.

Consistently active, she is working to keep up to date her skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, Visio, Project), Adobe (In Design, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Flash), SEO/Marketing and Typography.
